Beach, Glorious Beach!
Many years back, over twenty now, I had a prominent local resident contact me to buy a beachfront condo. I asked him at the time, Why? He had a beautiful home in French Harbor and he can go to the beach anytime he wanted to, living on the island. He looked at me and said, take a walk with me for a minute. I followed him as he walked from the condo complex to ocean front. He bent down, grabbed a handful of sand and as he released it through his fingers he said, “yes, he lived there but that God only made so much beach and he wanted to own some of it. He purchase the condo and still owns it.
“Beach” comes in many forms, depending on who is describing it. It can white, off-white, yellow, granular, powder,..flat, bluff, narrow, wide, water depth, natural, man-made,………..true beach though is also out there along with ‘waterfront’ which can mean anything from rock, irons shore, mangrove,…..
